ASSEMBLING

Gathering your crew every night can be tough to coordinate, but it’s so worth it— there’s no better way to check in with each other after a long day and create lifelong memories. One way to facilitate meaningful kitchen table conversation is to have everyone write a few questions on slips of paper, fold them, and put them into a jar or bowl in the center of the table. Take turns fishing out and answering the questions and see where the discussion takes you!

Despite your best efforts, some dinners can involve one parent eating in the car with the kids while driving them back from a late event, so consider making up for lost family time with a weekend gathering to enjoy a picnic or barbecue in the backyard or a local park. Have kids get in on the packing and prepping action by giving each a bag to fill (one could be in charge of drinks while another gathers plates and utensils, for example). Be sure to pick recipes like Boar’s Head EverRoast® Chicken Salad or Boar’s Head EverRoast® Chicken Wraps that can be pre-made and easily packed to travel.

“During our dinner, we share our “thorns and roses”or the highs and lows of our day. The kids share what they’re excited about and something they’re not that excited about. It gives us all an opportunity to encourage one another and to celebrate each other’s wins.”
